The 2005 Formula 1 season looks like being another exciting series as the teams prepare for the rigours of the various circuits each being different in their make up and appeal.

The Australian Grand Prix at Albert Park is made up of park roads and runs around a lake, dodging through cricket fields and skirting a golf proving to be very popular with the F1 drivers who enjoy the fast sweeping sections alongside the lake. Formula One 2005 circuits contd.

The Malaysian Grand Prix has been specifically designed to encourage overtaking, being very wide and containing at least four slow corners following long straights. The other 10 corners are medium-to high-speed and top speeds of over 180 mph are predicted. Formula One 2005 circuits contd.

The Bahrain circuit design is unique in that it comprises six individual tracks, four of which can be used at the same time. The Bahrain Grand Prix circuit uses both the Outer and Inner tracks, and includes 16 corners. Formula One 2005 circuits contd.

The French Grand Prix circuit itself is an interesting mix of slow turns and high speed straights. Overtaking is almost impossible except in the Adelaide hairpin. The last chicane, the right hand turn and the entry point of the pit lane are relatively new. The circuit is so smooth that both Bridgestone and Michelin are more or less equal. The San Marino Imola track has been described as a miniature Nurburgring because of it`s wooded areas, variety of curves and corners, and its wonderful undulating terrain. It`s not a sophisticated circuit; it`s just a great racetrack,The circuit was heavily revised following the tragic events of 1994 and now features no less than five chicanes. Overtaking opportunities are few, but in recent years Imola has usually produced exciting races. Formula One 2005 circuits contd.

The Spanish track is a modern road circuit with 8 right-hand and 5 left-hand corners. It includes 3 magnificent sweeping, fast curves, and 2 long, power-sapping straights. There are also 2 heavy braking areas where F1 cars go from 6th down to 3rd gear. Like Many-Cours in France, it is an ultra-safe state-of-the-art F1 venue but perhaps too clinical and lacking in atmosphere, due to its huge run-offs areas. Formula One 2005 circuits contd.

The Monaco Grand Prix course is the last remaining true street circuit. It has hosted GPs since 1929. Nelson Piquet said it best when he described the GP as: "It's like trying to drive a bicycle around your living room". The glamorous setting around the harbour and piscine (pool) area, the narrow streets and the scenic ocean view add to the appeal. Formula One 2005 circuits contd.

The Nurburgring European Grand Prix circuit has a mix of high and low-speed corners with limited overtaking possibilities, putting a premium on qualifying and fast pit stops.
